Morning People Freak Me Out

I've always been a night owl. Mornings are awful…
And morning people freak me out. Ha.
If you know me, you know that that I am a frequent visitor of the 3AM's and 4AM's.
I don't really know what it is about the night that I love so much…

Actually, no, scratch that. I definitely know why.
I stay up really late some nights because when the sun goes down, and the street lights come on.. It's like time stops for a moment, and the whole world is asleep. You can be who you want to be, do what you want to do, and you can sit and think about a million different things without the guilty feeling of being lazy. And even though most times I end up paying for it the next day.. I still love it. And at the end of the next day, when the sun goes to bed, I find myself staying awake again just so I can feel the calmness and peacefulness that only the night hours can offer me. It's the only time that I can really call "mine".
It's like a whole different world at night. Everything is quiet and still. And it's cool because you might be alone, but you're not the only one. Because there are more people just like you, sleeping in their rooms alone as well. And even though you sit there awake, with silence being the only thing surrounding you, you feel company knowing almost everybody else has turned in for the night with the same silence surrounding them too.
Night time is a break from everything. You get the chance to go to sleep and wake up with a fresh start and a better attitude.
I love knowing that nobody is running around trying to make it to a dinner date, or an appointment, or rushing to fix a meal, and most everybody is getting to relax and get rest for the next crazy day.
I love that the roads are nearly empty, and the traffic lights switch back and forth for no reason but to simply switch back and forth. I love that the only time we can see the stars is at night, and that the moon seems so much bigger when the sky is dark.
That I can see the moon and know that people half way across the world are beneath the same one. And for just a little while, you can feel closer to the people that you love, that seem so far away during the day.
I like knowing that people are sleeping and dreaming about things that maybe they wish were real. And for a short time, they get to live a different life in their dreams.
At night, you don't have to impress anybody.
You're hair can be a mess, your face clean of all your make up, and you can wear a big baggy tee shirt and be nothing short of comfortable in your own skin.
Day time is for the things that we must do. And night time is for the things that we can do.
I love the night. But I love sleep as well. And sometimes my love for the one trumps the alternative.
And right now, I'm tired.
So thank you, and good night.
